Many thousand of documents end up on an intranet, or are
published on the internet. These documents are often published as
they are, which means that many of the potential advantages of
putting them on line are missed.
On line documents should contain many additional features to
that of paper based ones and much care is required to ensure that
this happens. Numerous missed opportunities exist where not enough
thought and effort have been applied to the publishing of this
data. How data will be accessed, for what is it required, and the
quality and availability of cross linked information are some of
the considerations.
Splitting information up into bite sized chunks, presenting
graphics quickly without loss of clarity and improving the way
data can be accessed are important considerations which must be
addressed.
